Health Checks & Our Breeding Policy
We only breed from dogs that are fit and healthy and have been health screened for the current KC requirements of their breed.
All our dogs are up to date with their innoculations.
Our dogs are hip scored:
- Cocoa (Charlie's Mum) 2-2
- Charlie 3-3
- Sasha 2-2
- Button (Charlie’s daughter) from a 2-2 mother – will be hip scored soon
We are extremely pleased with all our dog’s hip scores, which are all really low and we have worked hard to achieve this. It is our ambition to hopefully breed 0-0 hip scored puppies, which should be the aim of any good breeder.
All our dogs also have eye checks and we would not consider breeding from any dog if they were not clear. We supply a copy of all health certificates for the relevant dog at the time of mating or on the sale of the puppies.
Charlie has been Optigen tested in the USA and his results have come back as clear/normal for prcd-PRA, so we can be assured he will never pass on this form of progressive retinal atrophy which will eventually cause blindness, to any of his puppies.
Charlie is 3 years old and a perfect example of a fit, active working Labrador. He is very dark chocolate coated, really handsome, has a great athletic build and is a proven stud.
We have two great new additions to the family, who we will breed from over the next few years. We have retired Cocoa and will use Sasha and Button from 2010 on. Sasha is now two and we plan to breed from Button, who is one, from late 2011. So with our two lovely girls we hope to keep up with the demand for our quality puppies.
We believe that a dog should have a great temperament before they are bred from. This way you get great puppies, who will make the best family pets. All of our dogs have very loving natures, are great with children and you are more likely to get licked to death than ever snapped at!
Visiting bitches must be fit and healthy, KC Registered, Hip Scored, Eye checked and be up to date with their inoculations.
